In order to open an account with us, you should have a Norwegian registered postal address and your residential address in your home country. Before you fill in the form below, you must have the following ready:
A national identity number or d-number
A valid e-mail address belonging to you
A mobile phone number belonging to you
If you have a d-number: TIN (Tax Identification Number). We need this because you have temporary residence in Norway and have tax residence in another country.
Within 10 days, you will receive an SMS from us with a message to come by our nearest office, to sign the agreement documents and show your identification. Remember to bring your passport. If you do not have a passport, bring the identification you do have. Read more about identification requirements below.
If you are not Norwegian or from the Nordic countries, you must bring a EEA registration certificate if you are from the EU/EEA or a residence card if you are from other countries.
Once you have been to the bank and signed the agreement documents, we will set up an account and online banking as quickly as possible. You can expect to receive your bank card 1-2 weeks after you have signed the documents. Remember to label your mailbox with your name.
If you have not used your account within 2,5 months, your account, card, online banking and BankID/without BankID will be terminated.
Identification requirements
Please be noted that you must have a national identity number (or D-number) in order to become a customer. The Norwegian Tax Administration is responsible for issuing this. Read more on their webpage.
Below you will find an overview of our identification requirements. Be aware that an emergency passport is not valid. You must provide the original identification papers, a copy will not suffice.
If you have a Norwegian red passport, you can have access to all our services, including a bank card with picture.
If you do not have a passport, only a bank card with picture or a Norwegian driver's license, you can open an account, debitcard without picture and "Without BankID".
Without BankID is a login mechanism that the customer can use to access SpareBank 1's electronic solutions.
With a valid passport, you can have "Without BankID", an account and a debitcard without picture.

If you have a passport and an EEA registration certificate, or an EEA national ID card (Schengen standardized residence card) you will get an account, a debitcard without picture and "Without BankID".

If you have a refugee travel document, an immigrant's passport or a passport from a country outside of the EU/EEA (and a work or residence permit if you have), you will get an account, debitcard without picture and "Without BankID".
A card for asylum seeker is not valid as identification.
