Funding Strategy

SpareBank 1 Østlandet issues senior and subordinated debt, both as public loans and private placements in NOK and other currencies.

The bank uses SpareBank 1 Boligkreditt  and SpareBank 1 Næringskreditt  for covered bond financing. The covered bond companies are wholly owned by banks inthe SpareBank 1 Alliance.

EUR is an important part of the funding mix, and the bank has an establishedcurve in EUR Senior Preferred benchmark bonds and follows a funding frequencyof 12 to 18 months.

Senior Non-Preferred bonds are so far issued in NOK. The issue size will be sub-benchmark in size and the bank will be open with respect to currency.

Tier 2 and Additional Tier 1 will normally be issued in NOK only.

Green bonds could be issued under the bank’s Green Bond Framework. 

Funding programmes

SpareBank 1 Østlandet has a joint EMTN-programme (Euro Medium Term Note-Programme) with SpareBank 1 Nord-Norge, SpareBank 1 Sørøst-Norge and SpareBank 1 SMN. This standardised programme makes it easier for SpareBank 1 Østlandet to gain access to international capital markets.

Loan agreements

A loan agreement governs the issuer’s obligations in connection with the issuance of a new loan in the market. This document regulates the conditions of the loan and the rights and responsibilities of the issuer and investor. The loan agreement for Norwegian debt issues may be obtained from Nordic Trustee or the issuer.
